Frito-Lay silences its sustainable SunChips packaging

So much for sustainable packaging: Frito-Lay has abandoned the compostable bags it launched for its SunChips snacks last year after customers complained that the bio-plastic wrapper was too noisy. Analysts say the company rushed the bags onto the market without properly testing the eco-materials in question. "It wasn't just loud, but a quality of loud that was impossible to ignore, like 100 little old ladies in the theater all uncrinkling their hard candies at once," Stephen J. Dubner writes.
