HTC cites new phones, Android for strong third quarter

HTC said its profits almost doubled in the third quarter and analysts predicted the Taiwanese vendor will retain a solid position in the smartphone market. The fourth-largest global smartphone maker cited the popularity of its Android-based devices and new models for its surge. "HTC will keep a stable position, even if it is not a leader in the sector," said Steven Tseng, an RBS analyst who predicted strong demand for smartphones in the current quarter.
