Louisiana benches ambitions for coastal dredging project

Louisiana is curbing plans to dredge 40 miles of coastline to keep oil from the April BP well failure from washing ashore. BP PLC has said it would fund the plan with about $360 million, but the federal government continues to oppose the project, warning that it could create additional environmental problems. The berms -- basically sand walls -- are being constructed to protect marshlands from the oil spill.
