Motorola embeds Wi-Fi intelligence into network gear

Motorola on Tuesday offered software for Wi-Fi networks that partly reverses an earlier move for wireless LAN controllers that followed its purchase of Symbol Technologies. The vendor introduced a line of software for access points and controllers that it says exploits their embedded processing power in a way that cuts network operating costs while increasing reliability and efficiency.
