Official: Propane plays vital role in military's alt-fuel strategy

Propane and natural gas vehicles account for 28,000 of the U.S. Army's alternative-fuel vehicles, according to Kevin Geiss, the Army's energy-security program director. The availability of propane makes it an attractive option as the Army seeks to replace 70,000 nontactical vehicles with cleaner alternatives. Still, Geiss says, the Army will review all options before making a decision.
