Solar activists celebrate as panels return to the White House

The White House is going solar, following a campaign by clean-energy advocates calling for President Barack Obama to show his support for their cause. The White House had previously been fitted with a solar array under Jimmy Carter, but Ronald Reagan had the panels removed when he took office. "Around the world, the White House is a symbol of freedom and democracy," said Energy Secretary Steven Chu. "It should also be a symbol of America's commitment to a clean energy future."
