Low-risk PCI patients can have same-day discharge, study says

Low-risk elective percutaneous coronary intervention patients can be safely discharged the same day rather than staying overnight, saving hospitals money and freeing up bed space, according to a Duke Clinical Research Institute report in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Dr. Ralph Brindis, co-author and past president of the American College of Cardiology, said revascularization procedures have become much safer.
