NRC: Move quickly on safety recommendations

U.S. nuclear plant operators should act quickly to strengthen the safety of used-fuel pools, according to a Nuclear Regulatory Commission task force. Operators should also improve the durability of reactor containment structures, the task force said. The Nuclear Energy Institute supports these proposals and "sees no real opposition to the direction the NRC is going," spokesman Mitch Singer said.
