Why CFOs are taking over firms' CSR strategies

Chief financial officers are playing an increasingly important role in shaping their firms' sustainability strategies, according to research from Deloitte. That's a sign that companies are realizing the financial benefits of CSR practices, says Deloitte sustainability leader Nick Main. "Volatility in commodity prices, new environmental regulations, calls for greater transparency about nonfinancial performance, and a range of other drivers are compelling management teams to deal with the sustainability imperative in a manner that supports their business goals," says Main.
