Airlines offering new travel perks, for a fee

Instead of simply charging for checked bags, airlines are trying to upgrade the travel experience with new fee-based services, such as iPads preloaded with movies, first-class meals in coach or travel packages that include free checked bags, early boarding and a waiver of change fees. These ancillary fees now generate about $27 billion annually, or 10% of total airline revenue.
