EPCA meeting tackles growth, costs for European petrochem firms

The output and competitiveness of European petrochemical producers, in relation to their U.S. counterparts, are key issues being discussed at the European Petrochemical Association annual meeting in Berlin. "I don't expect a big change in Europe in 2014 which looks likely to be much the same in terms of demand this year," said Rainer Diercks, an EPCA board member and president of BASF's petrochemical unit. "Maybe towards the end of next year there could be a slight improvement in demand but even that is difficult to print."
