How the digital age is making Mandarin more accessible

Digital learning tools are helping to speed the process of learning Mandarin. It took new students -- using traditional learning methods -- up to a year to learn the 200 "radicals" needed to read simple sentences, said David Moser, the academic director at CET Beijing Chinese Studies. However, online tools, such as character recognition mobile applications, translators and digital dictionaries, are reducing the time it takes to learn the language.
