Wal-Mart charts different paths forward in Asia

Wal-Mart is considering acquiring rival retailers in China as a path to growth in cities where it's not already the first- or second-largest merchant in town, said Wal-Mart Asia CEO Scott Price. Each Asian country comes with different challenges, he said, including India where the retailer may end a partnership with Bharti Enterprises after a local-sourcing requirement built into foreign-direct investment laws has prevented the partnership from growing.
