Caterpillar profits expected to be healthy

Caterpillar is expected to post healthy profits for the third quarter, but that doesn't appear to be enough in this market to stop its stock slide. The company has been able to access credit, but at higher than normal costs, and there are some fears that the credit crisis might force construction projects to scale back. Caterpillar's profits overseas have been fueled by explosive growth in China, but some analysts predict the economy might slow overseas as well.
