Drugmakers: OTC cold, cough drugs not for young children

Drug companies, following recommendations by medical providers and FDA advisers, voluntarily added warnings against the use of nonprescription cold and cough medicines in children younger than 4. An official with the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, which represents makers of over-the-counter drugs, emphasized that the products remain "safe and effective when used as directed."
