NIAID awards 25 grants for radiation countermeasures

The NIH's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has given 25 new grants to advance research in the diagnosis and treatment of radiation exposure after a nuclear attack. Five of the grants were awarded under the Project BioShield Authority rapid-award program and focus on developing new treatments to improve blood platelet regeneration following radiation exposure.
