Boeing plans $1B charge amid freighter setbacks

Boeing will take a $1 billion charge in the third quarter after announcing another delay in the freighter version of its 747-8 jumbo jet. Unlike the more ambitious 787 Dreamliner, the 747-8 uses traditional materials and manufacturing processes, yet its first flight has been pushed back repeatedly, and deliveries are now slated to begin in late 2010.
