Canadian groups battle over anti-spam legislation

Canadian businesses are urging the government to add some exceptions to anti-spam legislation. Proponents of the bill say such loopholes would water down the effort to reduce junk e-mail. The measure already contains some exceptions, but retailers and other businesses are trying to broaden those exceptions. They say the legislation, as it stands, will be a step backward and detrimental to their success.
