EHRs boost preventive care, chronic disease management

A Rand Corp. study found routine use of electronic health records improves preventive care and helps primary care practices manage chronic disease. The report, which looked at 305 primary care practices in Massachusetts, said practices using EHRs performed better on five quality measures, including diabetes care and screening for breast cancer, colorectal cancer and chlamydia.
