FAA tightens rules for medical helicopter operations

The Federal Aviation Administration today will propose stricter rules on emergency medical helicopters as part of an effort to lower the high nationwide crash rates for medivac helicopters. The new rule will require more safety equipment and pilot training. The will also impose stricter operating restrictions. Observers note that the FAA has for years relied on voluntary compliance from operators of medical helicopters.
