Canadian firms brace for U.S. crackdown on tax evaders

A U.S. effort to catch tax evaders is scheduled to come into effect in 2014, but phase-in rules require that derivatives transactions comply starting early next year because they can trigger payouts into the future. The rules have banks and securities dealers in Canada preparing for a tax on derivatives.
