CMS readies final rule on Shared Savings/ACO program

The CMS has submitted for review by the Office of Management and Budget a final rule governing the Shared Savings/Accountable Care Organizations program, which encourages provider groups to create ACOs to better coordinate patient care and keep a portion of any savings. Industry stakeholders have voiced concerns that the program's goals are too ambitious and discourage participation from providers.
