Nutrition experts say programs such as Box Tops for Education that benefit schools may promote unhealthy food choices because many products that qualify are snacks and desserts that are high in fat and low in nutritional value. A program from Publix and Produce for Kids offers a different approach; if shoppers buy a participating fruit or vegetable, it will benefit the "Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools" program.
