Site work begins for $1B stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

Site preparation has begun for a $1 billion, 68,500-seat stadium for the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, Calif. The relocation of utilities, construction of bridges and installation of a new pump system will pave the way for heavier construction activity, slated to begin in 2013. The team plans to complete the arena in time for the National Football League's 2015 season. Turner Construction and Devcon Construction will manage the project.
