Unemployment claims were back above 400,000 last week

First-time claims for unemployment benefits increased last week by 6,000, to 401,000. The four-week rolling average fell to 414,000. Most economists say initial claims would have to remain below 400,000 a week for several months to indicate improvement in the job market.
