138 Gulf production platforms remain shut-in after storm

Gulf of Mexico energy producers are resuming operations following Tropical Storm Karen, but 138 oil and natural gas production platforms in the region remain offline, regulators said. The platforms represent about 491,000 barrels of oil a day and 1.397 billion cubic feet of gas a day in production. "Minimal production shut-ins are being restored today," according to Royal Dutch Shell.
