Producers of cleaning products may face new challenges after California's Safer Consumer Products legislation went into effect Oct. 1, aiming to reduce the use of certain substances in products. The law will create a "difficult and arduous compliance process," said Brian Sansoni, vice president of sustainability initiatives for the American Cleaning Institute. But it is important to note the list of substances affected is "an information list, not a blacklist," he added. "We want to make sure consumers continue to have access to effective products that remain safe when used as directed."
