AT&T will launch smart watch that helps parents keep tabs on kids

AT&T will this fall introduce a smart watch aimed at parents who want to keep a close eye on their kids. Unlike Samsung's Galaxy Gear, the Filip watch works by itself as a phone, but its major feature is a location-tracking technology that beeps parents if children drift out of "Safe Zones" or other prohibited areas. The Filip is intended to "solve a real problem for parents and makes their lives easier," AT&T Mobility Senior Vice President Chris Penrose said. The carrier did not disclose its pricing plans for the watch.
