Delhaize shakes up executive structure after U.S. and Europe CEOs resign

Delhaize Europe CEO Stéfan Descheemaeker will resign Oct. 31, the company announced on Monday, following the recent resignation of U.S. CEO Roland Smith who, according to Delhaize, resigned after he was passed up for the position of group CEO last month. Delhaize is searching to replace its U.S. CEO, and plans to have the executive vice president and CEO of Southeast Europe and Asia divisions, as well as its CEO of Delhaize Belgium, report directly Frans Muller, the group CEO, beginning Nov. 1.
