While no other major city in the U.S. is close to filing for bankruptcy, the grave financial problems of Detroit have brought the challenge of rising pension liabilities to the attention of leaders throughout the nation. Mayors are calling for big changes in what was once considered one of the most important benefits of a government job, a pension.
