E.U. may impose methane emissions regulations on shale gas firms

Regulations on methane emissions may be imposed on shale natural gas companies in Europe if they fail to monitor and record the amount of methane released at drill sites, said Jos Delbeke, the European Commission's director-general for climate action. "Either the companies are going to put it on the table or a regulation is going to come at the European level," Delbeke said. "I leave that open."
