Flu vaccination may offer protection against pneumonia

Getting the flu vaccine was linked with a 59% lower risk of hospitalization for influenza-related pneumonia, according to a study of the 2009-2010, 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 flu seasons presented at the IDWeek meeting. Researchers analyzed data from a CDC study and also found that the flu shot had higher efficacy in children than in adults.
