Most Americans aren't aware of shale drilling benefits, poll finds

Most Americans aren't aware that the shale drilling boom has boosted oil and natural gas production in the U.S., a survey from Pew Research Center determined. "That's pretty interesting, especially considering the amount of attention the Bakken and North Dakota does get," said Tessa Sandstrom, a spokeswoman for the North Dakota Petroleum Council. "People really take for granted energy," added Vicky Steiner, executive director of the North Dakota Association of Oil and Gas Producing Counties.
