Timing of introducing gluten in child's diet may predict risk of celiac disease

Introduction to gluten after 6 months of age and breast-feeding longer than a year were associated with a 27% and about 49% greater risk of celiac disease, respectively, according to a Norwegian study in the journal Pediatrics. For every 10,000 babies who got their first taste of gluten between ages 5 and 6 months, 37 developed celiac disease.
