Universities step in for feds to provide swine virus updates

Although the USDA's National Animal Health Laboratory Network wasn't able to provide its weekly update on porcine epidemic diarrhea virus due to the government shutdown, several universities have joined forces to provide data on the ongoing outbreak. The update was published on the American Association of Swine Veterinarians' website. As of the week of Sept. 22, 684 cases had been documented across 17 states, according to the report.
