Vermont utility experiments with ice system for air conditioning

Energy-storing systems that create ice in the cool of the night to cool buildings during the heat of the day are being installed experimentally at two buildings by Vermont's Green Mountain Power. "Through the pilot, we hope to demonstrate the ability to shift air conditioning energy demands from daytime to nighttime, saving customers money, reducing the environmental impact of generation and controlling peak demand during the summer," said GMP President Mary Powell.
