Midsize candy companies squeezed by big players

The battle for 40% of the U.S. candy and gum market continues to plague small and midtier candy companies, according to analysts at Information Resources. Larry Graham, president of the National Confectioners Association, says "Confectionery is unusual. While there has been some consolidation, there is still a tremendous amount of variety."
