Interim superintendent wins Seattle's top schools slot

After the two remaining finalists bowed out, the Seattle School Board voted 6-1 yesterday to hire acting Superintendent Raj Manhas for at least one year. After the vote, several board members defended the search process and expressed regret that none of the finalists had won more community support.
