High schools fail to prepare students for college

Danielle Chappell earned A's in high school English and math, but when she got to college she twice failed remedial math and earned such low grades in other classes that she was forced to withdraw. Chappell isn't alone: High schools are failing to prepare even top students for college, writes Melinda French Gates, co-chairwoman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
