Opinion: Allow students who need it more time to graduate

Our archaic education system -- with its pre-dawn starting times, bells and lecture-based classes -- better prepares students for factory work than today's knowledge-based work, says English teacher and author David Smokler. Rather than forcing students to progress through 12 standard grades, why not give more time to children who need it and allow those who quickly grasp concepts to move more quickly.
