DeCODE Genetics to unveil gene test for breast cancer risk

Iceland-based deCODE Genetics is set today to launch a test that could help evaluate through a blood sample or cheek swab women's risk for common types of breast cancer. The genetic test could help women "make early diagnoses or take preventive measures," deCODE CEO Kári Stefánsson said. Some cancer experts, however, have expressed concerns about the test, saying the results could lead to a false sense of security or undue alarm.
