Nigeria's teachers to get more respect, pay

Teaching jobs will be taken more seriously as part of an overhaul of Nigeria's educational system, according to the governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, who said he also plans to increase spending on education. Officials say a teacher salary scale will be a trailblazing venture for the country and reverse the trend of violence in Nigeria, which could be averted by focusing on quality teachers.
