Kroger-brand products must pass taste tests

Before Kroger's store-brand products make it to retail shelves, they must win acceptance from volunteer taste-testers who sample items and answer multiple-choice questions about them. Between 500 and 600 potential products are tested, and about 70% of the items that make it to testing panels are approved.
