Structural problems create challenges for demolition

Failed structural elements within a 381-foot-high condominium tower on South Padre Island, Texas, have complicated the demolition process. Post-tensioned beam construction in a garage attached to the structural concrete building create the biggest challenge, Controlled Demolition officials say. The company is now considering four demolition plans.
