Expert offers tips for adopting a shelter dog

Families looking for the perfect pet need look no further than their local animal shelters, where up to 10 million animals are waiting to go home, says veterinarian and CBS News correspondent Debbye Turner Bell. October is national Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, and Turner Bell offers tips on picking out just the right rescued pup, including asking the shelter for a complete history on the dog to help determine whether its behavior, energy level and medical needs are the right fit.
