Energy Transfer Partners' $5.3 billion purchase of Sunoco means the 126-year-old company is no longer independent, but the brand's empire continues to exist in multiple forms, writes Andrew Maykuth. Sunoco operates service stations and pipeline and terminal assets, and previously spun off refining and chemical manufacturing units, among others.
