With StarStar Me, Sprint offers vanity phone numbers

Sprint Nextel will let customers pick out a vanity phone number composed of five to 10 characters, becoming the first carrier to take part in Zoove's StarStar Me service. A $3-a-month fee will enable subscribers to get a combination of numbers that correspond to any available word or phrase. Sprint also said that it will recruit companies in the hospitality industry and certain retail sectors to resell its service -- working as mobile virtual network operators -- in a partnership that would link their loyalty programs to Sprint's data service.
