Fannie, Freddie start to merge securitization infrastructure

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac took a step toward merging their securitization platforms on Monday by filing paperwork to create a jointly owned entity called Common Securitization Solutions. The move is a "significant milestone toward accomplishing the goal of building a new secondary mortgage market infrastructure," said Edward DeMarco, acting director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
