Finland, Japan employ continual professional development

Countries worldwide, including Finland and Japan, employ a continual professional development model for teachers. In Japan, teachers work in groups as part of the Lesson Study model, which allows teachers to work together, with one teaching a lesson and another observing how students respond. In Finland, researchers say continual professional development is less formal, but still deeply entrenched in the education culture.
