Intel targets "Internet of Things" with new Atom, Quark processors

Intel has announced its low-power Atom E3800 and Quark SoC X1000 processors for applications including home electronics and industrial systems, in an effort to move beyond a PC-centric focus. The chips are accompanied by software releases from the company's McAfee and Wind River subsidiaries. The company wants to get the new processors into "billions of devices that we've never been in before," Intel's Ton Steenman said.
